Published

im not sure if this is in the right forum.

just a quick question...

once i g-d willing pass the nclex- I'm a RN, right?

so if i want to go on to a NP- can i go directly from an RN to NP?- what degree is that considered...

what are any additional pre-reqs?

can you do this online?

any info is appreciated!

Thanks everyone! have a great day!

this forum has some great info for that - I'd also glance at NP curriculum at your local state colleges - perhaps their admission faq.... to get a basic understanding of the career field, options, and educational path.

good luck on your nlex!

Nurse Practitioner (and all Advanced Practice preparation) is done at the graduate level. There are both ADN-MSN and BSN-MSN programs in the country (about 200+ of them).

There are plans to raise the entry level for Advanced Practice from the MSN level to the doctoral level (DNP) by 2015. Several universities have already made this change; dozens more are planning to do this in the next 5-6 years. So this would mean needing to complete a DNP degree to enter into NP practice in 2015 or so.

I am not aware of any ADN to Doctoral programs at present -- but there are many BSN-doctoral. This does not mean that there will not be any Associate Degree to doctorate programs in 2015.
