I had not planned on shelling out the money for a prep course, but all my co-workers who recently graduated say I should use one.
I know there are a few places who offer them - anyone have any input good or bad related to these prep courses.
My original plan was to just study notes from school, look thru review books and just sit for the exam. Not completely sure the value of a prep course is justified and I have not been overly stressed about the boards.

Which exam are you doing? I can recommend a couple if you are doing the neonatal board exam.

Really depends on the board exam you are taking, the quality of your program, and how self-directed you are.
For most people, the board review classes are well worth the small investment. All the major ones as pretty good, I am partial to FHEA.

I didn't attend a live prep course. I bought previously recorded FHEA prep cassette tapes (yes you read right) and played it over many times. It came with a book with practice tests. It was much cheaper than traveling for a live course and I ended up selling it after I passed the test. I also used another book of practice tests to go along with the FHEA material.

We have been encouraged to do Barkley's AGACNP review (whether live or by CD). Apparently they quote a 99% pass rate if you do the course! I figure it's worth the $500 if it's that helpful!
