Not sure what to do?

I decided to try school nursing 2 years ago. When I first started, I loved it but I constantly think about my old job of 9 years as an OR Nurse. I miss parts of it but not others. I love my schedule and being my own boss but hate the isolation and knowing I am it if something happens. I know people would say I am crazy to give up summers off. Not sure if I should give it more time or if it's a sign to return to my previous job.

can you work the OR on a per diem basis? lots of us hold per diem nursing jobs at hospitals. maybe your old OR will be happy to have you back on a per diem basis. that way you'll scratch that itch and still keep your school nurse job.

I agree with flare. I kept my old job for my first two years. Now my childrens activity swamp my evenings and weekends. I think you should do the per diem thing. You will have control of when you work and that extra money will be a nice bonus.

Thanks for the info. I did stay PD when I left but they didn't make it easy to meet the hourly requirements so I left. Maybe I could go back and suck it up so at least I am still doing it. I feel it would be too hard to learn a whole new OR on a per diem basis.
