Anyone have any experience with Norman Regional? Or the Moore Medical Center?

We might be moving to Norman after I graduate (hubby applying with Norman Police) so I am trying to find out as much info about Norman Regional as I can.

I have limited experience....I gave birth to my youngest daughter in NRH and had a great experience, I've heard good things about their ER (am considering working there).

Any other info first hand?

Right now I work for OU Med and I like it just fine but wouldn't want to drive from Norman to OUMed.

I'm interested to see people's responses to this, becuse I'm going to have clinicals there next semester

I've been to Moore Med Center once to visit someone, and it looks nice on the inside. She had a good experience but I haven't ever heard anything from someone who actually works there

Hey,

I haven't worked there myself but my sister-in-law is a charge nurse there, my brother is a med tech in the lab and my sister works as a lab assistant. All three of these people have worked at other hospitals and all three LOVE Norman Regional. My sister-in -law has been there prob. 5 years or more and always has great things to say about working there. They seem to be more than happy with working there and I never hear them talk of going anywhere else.

If you have any specific questions, I can ask them and get back to you.

Thanks for your response! I ran into an RN tonight at church and her and her RN hubby also said Norman Regional was a great place to work.

What unit does your SIL work in? Could you ask her if she has any experience with the ER or ICU units?

Thanks again :)

My SIL works labor and delivery and has since she went to work there. My sister is in every unit drawing blood and she has had no problems in the year that she has worked there. I just don't think one can go wrong working there.

Any more questions, just let me know

I work at both hospitals and choice is really up to you on what you want. OUMC is a big and busy hospital that offers alot of services that only available there - trauma, research, and crazy new procedures or something. Plus, it's a teaching hospital so you have deal with that - could be good or bad. It seems the nurses run the show more than the docs. LOL Norman is a smalller community hospital well everyone knows each other. Your chances of getting opted are greater because there are slow times. It was hard getting use to not having a dr always available in house and you have to kiss alot of butt b/c you don't wanna **** a dr. off. I work prn at norman because I live in norman and my job is more laid back. OUMC not so much - its crazy from second you walk until you get in your car an hour after you shift ended. haha I think both are good hospitals - each have there pros and cons. Both have good and bad reps for patient care.

PS Two things - norman does take good care of their employees & the food is way better!

LOL your post was funny :) Thanks so much for your response! Seems both are good hospitals just in very different communities.

Do you mind if I ask what areas you work at in both Norman and OU? Right now I work in the PICU at OU as a nurse partner and I do love it. But I hear so many bad things about how the RNs are treated poorly and have a high turnover at OU so that concerns me at times. I have a friend who works in the Presby ER as a nurse partner and I've thought about doing that when I graduate but worried about being thrown to the wolves.

Norman I would be interested in working in the ER if we move down there, do you have any experience with their ER or ICUs?

Thanks so much :)
