I am in school right now working on my prereqs for nursing school... I work in nuclear medicine right now and I'm looking to transfer. I either want to be in L&D or NICU but I don't really know if what other postions there are.... I know there are unit clerks and I would be interested in that but are there any other positions you can think of in your L&D?

Our L&D unit has OR techs that are dedicated to OB/Gyn procedures - c/section, D&Cs, etc.
Also, we have L&D techs that are responsible for keeping the supply room stocked and the LDR rooms set up for a delivery. They actually stay pretty busy!
I don't know what they earn, but I hope this info helps you. Good luck in your job search, and in school!

There are secretary jobs on these sorts of units usually as well.
What they earn can't be any worse then what I'm making right now hehe....
I'm just tired of nuclear medicine and coworkers who don't pull their own weight. I always knew I wanted to go into health care and I also always knew I wanted to be in L&D, but right now I'm mostly dealing with the grumpy elderly. I want to be interested in what I'm doing and radioactive isotopes really aren't my thing either. It's time for a change and I'm really hoping I can get into L&D or NICU. Unit clerk, tech, whatever I'll take it!

I went to a Doula workshop and found a hospital that uses doulas as staff! I love it! Check us out at http://www.dona.org
Actually I am trained as a doula (through DONA as well) already but the hospitals here don't use us as staff....
