It's not just you that signed the non-compete clause- the hospital that hired you as a traveler has also agreed with your travel company not to hire you on as regular staff for a year- if they do, they face financial penalties. The only way this might work is if the hospital you are at is willing to buy-out your contract with the travel company- check with your nurse manager to see if they are willing to do this....

It's not that I want to work at this hospital as a regular staff, I just want to change agencies and get a better deal when my current contract runs out.

demand a raise from your current company to renew, and also ask for a bonus. I did receive a bonus for one assignment after learning I was making a few bucks less an hour than other nures. I didn't need to renew because I was going some place else. Make sure you get a bonus for resigning too.

I am currently with a company that has a clause that I cannot work with another company at the hospital I am at for at least one year after I leave their employment. I would like to stay at this hospital, but after having spoken with other travelers there, I find that they are making $9-10/hr more than my agency is paying me.
Can I go with another agency to do a new contract at this hospital without my current agency finding out?
Do agencies REALLY keep track of past employees that closely?
Thanks,
Trish
