Depends on the facility.

You will have rounds every two hours - this is when you will toilet those who need toileted and change those who are incontinent. You will also reposition people who can't do it themselves.

You might have vitals to take, and various cleaning tasks to do. It's a lot more laid back than the other shifts, though I'm still usually quite busy.

Depends on your facility.

We do: baths, rounds, vitals, get ups (about 50 total care residents up), cleaning rooms, do mechanical lift checks, wanderguard checks, watch fall risks like hawks, change O2, change disinfectant, change sharps, clean wheel chairs, etc. I made a whole thread about what we do in detail a month or so back

I can't speak for everywhere but I'll give you the basics of what I have to do (hospital on ortho/neuro unit) I&Os, vitals, repositioning, bi-hourly pt checks, toileting, incontinence checks, cleaning, passing linens, the occasional baths, lots of running to bed alerts (gotta love sun downers), ambulating pts, then there's the admits and post-ops, though those are generally fewer then what you get during days and evenings you'll still get some. Also not sure if this is common or not but a lot of things get put off until nights so you'll find yourself doing or helping nurses with things that were supposed to have been done during the day time.

GO through the threads from the past couple of months - I know there was a post where many of us went into detail on what we did on 3rd shift. It might be helpful to you!
