Hi everyone! I just got the news that I will be doing my capstone in the emergency department at a hospital about an hour from me. My preceptor only works nights so it looks like I will be fitting night shifts into my already hectic daytime schedule. I am looking for some serious advice on how to sustain myself during a night shift (and afterward!) I am an Army ROTC student as well so I will most likely be going straight from the hospital to classes/pt and vice versa. What's the best way to transition from night shift to daytime classes and such? What types of food and drink habits might help me get through the shift?Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

When will you be sleeping if you're on nights and taking day classes?
This is new to me so I'm assuming I will just take naps and get sleep when I can. I shouldn't be working more than 2 nights a week but I have a day shift for another clinical
How long will you be doing this. Sorry for the questions, but answers depend on several factors.

I did my senior capstone at night too. I only had one day of class a week so it wasn't too hard to work around that with my preceptors schedule. I did 12 shifts with her. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
