1. Get your BSN, it will open more doors than an ASN will.
2. Look for schools that have a Capstone placement/preceptorship and strive for a NICU placement.
3. Look for a summer NICU externship
4. Look for a PCA job in a NICU.
We almost exclusively hire our PCAs that graduated nursing school or our summer externs when they graduate.

Hi there!
I'm currently in the process of starting a program to become a CNA with the intention of working while getting my BSN. I ultimately would like to be a NICU RN and was wondering if you nurses could offer advice or tips on what I should focus on throughout my nursing journey. What's the best way to try and reach that goal?
