Hello all! I'm looking forward to start working on a psy unit in the near future; wanted to purchase some reading materials i can carry around to read for my job (i.e. Psychiatric nursing made incredibly easy!). All suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!

Journal of Psychosocial Nursing is a good way to stay on top of current psych knowledge.
That's definitely a good way to start! Thanks :)

Cool! Are you planning on working with adults or children? If you're interested in children, I'm reading a really fascinating (but sad) book called "The boy who was raised as a dog" and it's written by a child psychiatrist who talks about severely traumatized children that he's worked with. Also reading "I don't want to talk about it" which sheds light on male depression. Best of luck!

I like the pocket guides if you want something you can use as a reference at work:

Not that it's in any size that you could pocket, I recommend Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology: Neuroscientific Basis and Practical Applications by Stephen Stahl. You could buy a less recent copy for near nothing.
