Newbie needing help

Hi my name is Lisa and I am 41. I was in sales but got laid off due to the economy and decided it would be the perfect time to do what I have always wanted to do, Nursing.:heartbeat

I need to decide the best route for me to do this. I can go to school for Medical Assistant then work on nursing or go to school for LVN. I am located in California where they are phasing out LPN's, but I like working with the "older" generation, (long as they don't think I am one and try strapping me down to the bed) which seems to be the case here for LVN's.

So if it was you would you go the LVN route then bridge to RN or do Medical Assisting and slowly work on RN? I need to decide today.:bugeyes:

:spnngwlcm: Advise you to get an LVN license instead of MA. More job opportunities in addition to opportunity to enter an LVN to RN bridge program. MA jobs are limited and hard to find. Most job listings for MA indicate that experience is necessary. Many more places to get an LVN job. You can get into RN school through the bridge program, something you can't do with an MA education. Good luck with your decision.
