new in texas

Hi. I am hoping to move to Texas in the near future. No specific city as yet. Can anyone advise me where would be a great neonatal intensive care unit to work in. Open to all suggestions?

Check Houston...they have a huge facility down there called Texas Children's Hospital. Not sure if they have a NICU.

hi!

Tx childrens has an excellent NICU staff, opportunities, and the experience is nothing like you could ever get anywhere else...

I love NICU and my plan after graduation is to apply for a position there.

I have 4 neices and 2 nephews that had most of their care done on the units and the nurses were truely remarkable, as I spent as much visiting time as possible there, soaking it up like a sponge. Some of the nurses thought I was the parent instead of the aunt...

Their attitude was most commendable :)

Good luck with your choosing...

Yea for Houston.....as others have said Texas Childrens is a great hospital....Houston is a fun city, contrary to popular belief...:) oh, and those of us who live here are fabulous :chuckle:

If you prefer smaller towns, try Longview (75,000) in East Texas. Good Shepherd recently opened a new NICU. They are one hour west of Shreveport, LA and 2 hours east of Dallas.

3 great level III NICU's in Dallas are at Parkland, Prebyterian, and Baylor.
