new here with a question

hello all,

I have been reading here frequently while taking my prereqs, I am finally ready to apply to the ADN program and I should know something by June. The school that I am applying to works on a points system, they will not tell us what we should get on the TEAS but they did tell us they separate the grades into three groups (top third, middle and bottom). They will not know where the numbers for the groups are until the scores come in, because obviously they don't know how anybody scored until then. They also will not tell us how the groups ranged last year. So I am here to ask you to take a wild guess...... what do you think the ranges would be????? I want to be in the top group obviously lol. I scored a 85.3 and I do have one chance left to take it so I could potentially score a bit higher, if I score lower they will only look at the best. Do you think that I have any chance of being in the top group with that score????? The school only has 64 spots a year, so needless to say I am getting a bit nervous.

Yes, I believe you can get into the program with that score, but, please don't put your eggs in one basket. Is there anywhere else that you can apply to as well? These nursing program are competitive and most schools have a shortage with teachers, so "sometimes" they like to choose the students with the top grades and etc. So, if you can apply to a few more schools please do so.

Unfortunately, this is the only program that I can afford at the moment. The University has a BSN but, at thirty thousand a year it is not really doable with three kids and the mortgage ect... I have completed most of my co-reqs and still have a 4.0. however, I did lousy in high school (13 years ago) and they may still look at that. they received about 400 applications last year for 64 spots...... so I am not really sure what my chances are.

I am taking the CNA now just as a back up if I have to wait a year and re-apply I should have a better chance with experience. They also do not use interviews or anything, it is based on numbers. They don't even put your name on the application so that there is no special treatment. You are a number and you either rank high enough or you don't, no wait list, you just reapply next year. The only thing that would give me a better chance next year is that they probably would not look at high school, and I would have experience. Assuming I can keep my GPA till then (I have to finish A&P II and Micro). I am taking A&P II now and micro this summer.

Oh ok, you have a lot on your plate. I do believe you have a good chance at getting into the program. We are in this together I applied to a few schools, and I am playing the waiting game with you. I am finishing up my masters in public health right now, so if I don't get in this year I have something to fall back on, and then I will reapply. So, let's pray on it and just wait for our acceptance letters to come through the mail!!!:balloons:

You scored very well, but I am told that the scores usually go up about 10 points the second time. Anything in the 90's would definitely be in the top group. If the school takes the highest score then I would say go for it.
