I have a BFA in dance, and I am looking to start a BS in nursing. I am not exactly sure about how to go about this. Do I need to start in an associates of science program or because I have a bachelors degree in another field can I get my BS, and get my registered nursing license that way. I am located in loss Angeles and am looking for schools in that area that possibly have that program if anybody knows any more information about what to do and how to get started it would be greatly appreciated and very helpful

There are several options for entry into a nursing career: diploma (there's still a few schools out there), associates, bachelors, and even masters programs. As someone who already has a bachelors, you can also look into accelerated programs. These programs are geared towards the career changer who already holds a degree in another field. You can start researching schools by checking on the BON website for those that are approved by the state as well as the ACEN and CCNE website for those that are accredited.
One thing to remember is the job market- in LA, there is likely to be a huge amount of competition between new grads- more grads than open positions. The employers may use a degree as a way to filter applicants by requiring a BSN. Do some research, look at job postings, and take statements like "BSN required" or "BSN preferred" into consideration when looking at programs.
Thank you so much. I know I would need to take the Prerequisites. I'm seeing a lot of schools that offer different ones. Do You recommend taking all of them for my top 3 nursing schools ? This is the part that I'm most confused about.
