hello! i just took and passed the Philippine licensure exams last June. being a new nurse, i have no idea where to begin with regards to starting my career. where can i train? which hospitals are hiring at the moment? can anyone tell me what documents i need to prepare for application? is there really a "freeze hiring" of nurses at this time? and i heard that st. lukes requires their applicants to at least have a board rating of 80%, will it be impossible for me to get hired if i fell short of that? i apologize if i have too many questions. i really just have no idea where to begin.:confused:

Scout first the hospitals you really want to work for. Know their requirements. And then start to get your documents (clearances, certifications from PRC, official documents from your school). Have you had your license yet? It's hard to start without your PRC license. If you have it, why not train for IV therapy? It's really a must for us nurses, and gives you an "edge".

I hope you just don't work for a hospital for just 2 years and then you'll go abroad. Invest on practicing your skills and really learn our profession first. Also, look for a good hospital that you would really learn something from (and you know you would work for with no regrets).

Sorry for babbling on and on! I hope I have been helpful.

Good luck!!

thank you! at least "where to begin" is clearer now. and yes! i plan on working and staying in the Philippines and maybe pursue a career in teaching. :)

1. IV therapy training

2. BLS -> ACLS training

try to finish this asap. then try to gain things to get the edge. as of now think that you're selling your expertise as a product. what would be appealing to the customer(employer) enough to buy it?:twocents:

if you can find a hospital that won't abuse you in any way,the better.there are still some hospitals who will not charge you with any single cents even taking the qualifying exams.
