I am a grad nurse and currently working as float. I was assigned in a very busy unit, I am really trying to grasp the routine as I have only been on my own without a buddy for 4 days, I was asking the charge nurse some questions jsut to clarify things when she said when did you graduate and then when i said April she made a face and said that is why, you ahould get more training and orientation. I felt really inadequate when I am really trying my best to be the team lead and getting to know the unit. It was like they've never been a student and although I can take constructive criticisms, they always make it a point to remind me that I am new that's why I am not aware of things. It's disheartening sometimes.

Manager is correct, but you are NOT inadequate. I don't recommend float pool for new grads anyway -- orientation time is split among all of these diverse units and their respective staff. You don't have the time to forge professional/
mentoring relationships -- and this is VITAL as you won't become proficient for a year or more, even under ideal circumstances.
I had another point to make... but it escapes me. If it comes back to me, I'll be back to post
