New to NI (tech)

Hi all! I was transferred to NI (from ER) as a tech. I'm going into my last semester of nursing school in August. I fell in love with the babies when I did my LD rotation (never in a million years expected that!) Anyway, are there any good resources to get me familiar with language that refers specifically to NICU care? I haven't had any critical care in school yet, just very basics of LD and a few preterm complications. The NI is a level 4 regional center. They do ecmo, hypothermia, and something else (I can't remember) exclusively at that facility for the region. All suggestions welcome!

That is wonderful that you are enjoying the babies. When I was doing the NICU clinical, I got used to it and then I enjoyed the babies. The babies that I saw in there were so tiny and I was afraid to touch them for the fear that they would get hurt by my touch. After much thinking regarding that, I figured that they needed my touch in order to heal and to get better. So, I got over my fear and started touching them more and more. The information that would be helpful to you would be to get a book through Amazon or even Barnes and Noble bookstore on nursing terms; especially in the NICU. You could also look online at ebooks and see if they have any nursing textbooks; especially when it comes to neonatal and nursing jargon words like nursing medical language. I hope this helps you.
