New!! need help with NLN

Hi alll! new to this site and have been reading everyones post. I could use some advice on what to study for the NLN and is it as hard as everyone tells me:eek: . I am from Florida and will be taking my entrance exam in march 2006. For some reason there seems to be alot of people not passing, some even work in the same place I do (hospital). Do I just study the book? WHat should I espect in the test? I REALLY dont want to ask the people that keep failling it either lol. Well any assitance on what to study with will be greatly appriciated.

Oh for got to intro my self. I am 30 year Rican, no kids, never married and have been going to school for the past 3 years. Finished all pre-req and co-req but was waiting to grow up before I figured out what I wanted to do with my life.

Hello!!

I took the NLN Entrance Exam for the LPN & RN program, back in November. I personally do not think it was as difficult as people made me think, but then again, we are not all the same. I studied from the Mary Mcdonald book and another one. If you do a search you'll see on my other post, what other book I used. What I did was take the practice exams on every category, the one I did the weakest on, was the one that got most of my dedication. I studied for about 3-4 weeks on and off and I did fine. You'll do just fine. Good Luck!!!:clown:

Hello and welcome. I invite you to do a search as there is so many posts about the NLN. If you scroll through a few pages in the prenursing section you will sure to hit a post or two.

Good luck

Thanks RN Jess, the more info I get the better. I just dont understand why a few coworkers failed it. I know two of them grades are lousy but even the others who are A and B studens also failed it. Well i have 3 months to look over some of this books with them. Thanks for the info. One thing tell u giants Fan (football)

I think it has to do with what the school considers failing or passing. My school sets a high standard and you'd be surprised how many people fail that baby.

I myself am a straight A student, and I scored decent enough to get me in the program but the score wasn't all that great. I passed it, but not with an outstanding score. I did look at the review guide once through, but was more into studying for Chemistry that I had little to no time.

I do strongly feel that you should read and USE the study guide as it helps. It gives you a general impression of the exam, and the practice is great. I should have done it myself, but am thankful for passing.

I did very well in the math and especially the science section but the Vocab was a toughy. It had lots of words that I had not even seen before. I thought it had to do with me being English as a second language, but there were many who only spoke English and failed.

The exam isn't too bad. The only thing is that you have to be very disciplined and make sure not to run out of time. This is what got many students. I skimmed through the reading passages, read the question and went back to the passage and dissected the answer. ;)

Let us know how it went.

Good luck
