Hello all. I've just joined your wonderful forum and wanted to briefly introduce myself. I'm a mom of 2. My first child was born while I was doing my prerequ's in nursing school and had no idea what area I wanted to go into. Well, he was born at 24 wks and made up my mind for me!!! He's now 6 and doing great and I have a 3 year old that was a term scheduled c-section!! I've now been a nicu nurse for 4 1/2 years and I can't imagine doing anything else. I work in a 14 bed Level III nicu where here lately we've had 20+ babies. I'm anxious to meet you guys and learn from all of you!! Talk to you soon.:sofahider

Nice to meet you. I'm glad to hear your son is doing well. Does he have any major issues?

I work in a Level 3 NICU, too. I'm switching jobs after 16 years to a more flexible schedule at a different hospital, in NICU still.

:welcome:

Hi! Glad to meet you.

my son is 6 yrs old now and going to be in the first grade. He doesn't have any issues from being a 24 wker. He's been a miracle since the beginning. He never had an IVH, NEC, PDA, none of the common things with micropreemies except for chronic lung. He was on the vent for 6 wks. He came home on O2, but doesn't have any resp. issues now. He's still a little petite, but doesn't really look out of place next to his classmates. He's also caught up with them developmentally. He's a pretty great kid if I don't say so myself!!!:saint:
