Where is the best place to start working as a LVN in Texas??? I am wanting to go back to school and continue my education, but need a job to make some money in the meantime.

It may not be a question of "best place", but what jobs are available to you. If you are lucky enough to be in a more rural area, there may be hospital jobs available. This would provide you with a great background for that bridge program for your RN. If not, look at LTC or LTACs. Either of those will provide you with into into the structure of nursing care.... getting used to dealing with shift work, coping with assignments, collaborating with co-workers and allied health providers, etc. All of this is relevant and very applicable to hospital nursing jobs.

Congratulations on your accomplishment & best of luck on your career!

Do you have any advise for someone returning to the field? I am finishing a LVN refresher couse that is located in Austin, but I live north of Houston and can not do the required 80 hours with a preceptor in Austin at the local hospital there. I completed a skills lab - but I know I am rusty. I can not find someone locally and maybe I am not approaching this correctly. I have applied for my temp permit from the BON, but trying to line something up is difficult. My goal is to work in a clinic - as that is what I did before, but will to do the 80 hours anyplace. Thanks
