New Grad

you should do fine. 90% of the stuff I know and use on a daily basis I learned here on the unit during preceptorship and while having been on my own for a year now . Nursing school tidbits help every now and then but I think you should be fine, a year isn't that long...goodluck!

I graduated in May and started working as a GN on a step-down tele floor. took the NCLEX in July & passed and passed.....still working on the tele floor. I love my unit. Learning so much. Today and next Thursday I attend an in-service dysrhythmia class so hopefully I'll be able to read those strips better than I can now (which isn't much!!). Good luck...I'm sure it will work out fine.

Well sorta...I just recently passed my boards after a year! I guess my question is have any of you after getting your license, started on a tele floor? And will I have difficulty adjusting to this floor considering I've been out for a year? During nursing school, I did really well on cardiac, and I did my preceptorship on a telemetry step down unit...The unit i applied for is not a tele floor, but they called it a cardiac interventional unit?!?!

You should be fine. I graduated in May and started work on a telemetry floor just a few weeks after graduation. Passed boards in July. It can be stressful and overwhelming at times BUT I love cardiac and if I have questions, there is always a more seasoned nurse around to help out.
