Hello 😊
So I just got a job at a correctional facility and I love it (so far ) and wanted to know different types of codes I should expect to respond to. I've never done this kind of nursing or emergency nursing so its a completely new world for me. I want to brush up on some skills and inyerventions but dont know where to start. So far I've only had to respond to someone having a seizure. I am expecting some stabbings as that's happened a few times already but I didn't need to respond to those. Any tips would be hugely helpful, even not necessarily about codes and such. Thanks in advance!

Any medical emergency or if an inmate acts up you'll need to be there during/after to medically clear the inmate.

I need more information before responding in detail. You haven't said whether you are an RN or LPN, or whether you work in a jail or a prison. Responsibilities will vary depending upon the answers to these two questions.

Seizures (real and fake). Weak and dizzy. Slip and fall. Drug OD or intoxication. Trauma from fights. Suicide attempts (usually hangings). Diabetic crisises. Occasional curve balls: I had a guy with a spontaneous pneumothorax last week.
