Neglect??

I am an acute Hemodialysis RN. My boss wanted me to run a treatment at a hospital that I am not credentialed at and I refused because I have no access to the patients chart there. I told her I didn't feel comfortable going since I can't access their chart. If something were to go wrong its my license and I'm not authorized to work at that hospital. She says she is going to write me up for neglect. Is that even considered neglect? Am I in the wrong here?

I know nothing about this. @Hoosier_RN might have some info for you.

Sounds pretty dumb to me and I'd think if you could be in trouble for something it wouldn't be "neglect;" that is what makes it sound like they are BSing you. Again, I have no idea the ins and outs of this specific nursing specialty.

Good luck though.

Not having worked acutes I'm a little limited in ability to answer. I have to first ask, is this hospital in a group that your workgroup provides service to? If so, your manager may have some grounds to write you up. That said, having not ever been to that hospital, and possibly be unfamiliar with the documentation system could create an issue, but your manager could have your credentials set up within minutes. Without more info, it's hard to say, but I wouldn't call neglect, as you had not accepted care of the patient. Perhaps insubordination of your boss, due to refusal of care, especially if it were an on call situation, you being on call
