Needs advice 4rm all u smart nurses pls!!!!

hello to all the nurses!!

i am in need of some advice....i am a cma and i want to become a nurse. i wanted to know if anyone knows if some of my college credits will transfer to a nursing program....will i be eligible for any nursing school with a 3.6 gpa? becoming a nurse is my dream. i have 3 very small children which is why i had decided to do the cma thing....it seemed to be an easy 9 to 5 job until they got a little older. i also did a nursing program in high school a few years back for stna. i loved it. ....it takes a special person to be a nurse...i give props to all of you, and i'm ready to become one.:yeah::up: any advice would be greatly appreciated! i know the bsn takes a while and i am considering that...but i feel that i need something slightly smaller for now...and i want to get some experience in... i feel that would help me become a better student with better grades. thank you to all who reply:nurse:

You need to speak with an academic adviser at the school you are interested in to find out which credits they will accept.

as a mother of 3 :jester:, i know how you feel. i decided to do an accelerated nursing program because i just dont have the years to dedicate to school with 3 young babies. so, i am going into a 1 yr lpn program and after all of my kids are in school i will bridge to rn.

i have a 3.75 gpa :lol2:... i volunteered with a hospice organization and put in 75 hours in 2 months... i took psychology, sociology, english, medical terminology, and lpn math through the community college (my nursing school considered these classes as part of the evaluation to get in.) i also received my cna.

i was approved for nursing school in no time:nurse:. so my advice is do a little volunteer work to sweeten your application and give you more experiences. and go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yeah:
