Needing advice on MSN Self-Paced Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All

I did an accelerated BSN program a few years back and have an RN BSN.  I am currently looking at getting my MSN.  If it were up to me and a general MSN, nonspecialized, were available I would do that.  I am not caring as much if it is a MSN in leadership, teaching, informatics etc.  I really just want my masters as its required to be able to work as a clinical instructor, but there is no requirement of the specialization  I am wanting to do a program that is self-paced (due to work and life constraints).  I am trying to find a program that I can actually still have good work/school/life balance and I won't be giving up my life to complete

I have looked at
Capella

Walden University

Perdue

I was curious if there may be any other self-paced programs as well.  I am just looking do this in a convenient and affordable way

Thanks so much

Drexel Univiersity has an undeclared MSN that allows you to take the five core MSN courses online before selecting your concentration- has four 10-week quarters per year with part-time option.  Very popular in my area.

The only thing is I want something fully online.   I live in the Philadelphia area as well, and thought Drexels was partially in person as well

There are specific skills necessary to actually be a competent faculty member - education in curriculum development; curriculum evaluation; providing feedback to students during clinical that fosters growth including summative evaluations;  test development and evaluation of results;  and providing lectures that synthesize material from several current sources as well as providing an effective thought provoking lecture.

You don't know what you don't know. In the last couple of years we had 3 faculty members denied tenure because they thought all they needed was an MSN for the role.
