Nurses Career Support

Hi all!

Im a new grad starting my first job as an RN on the 13th of Feb..But I need advice.

I have been offered a Rehab Nursing position which pays 26.50 or a spot in a RN Residency program in which I will be place in 4 different units for 4 weeks in each. The units would be Med Surg, Medical, Pediatrics, and Telemetry at a pay rate of 22.50 and then 24.50 after the 12 weeks..

I do not want to make my decision based on the pay, I feel I can get experience in both positions and think I will be happy doing either one...nursing is what I was born to do!

Id like any feedback available, I have to decide by tomorrow because I am scheduled to go sign all the paperwork...

Thanks in advance!

I would take the one with the 4 week rotation. You can get a feel for each of those units and may possibly find out what area you will be most comfortable in. Rehab is good too, but I would not pass up an acute care residency that gives you a little taste of several units that is such an excellent opportunity!

i would pick the acute even though the pay is less. it's easier to go acute to non-acute than non-acute to acute. i was trying to get a hospital job coming from rehab (subacute) floor to no avail. good luck and congrats on being offered two jobs!!
