Need help regarding Mt St Mary's College in Los Angeles

Specializes in CNA.

I am currently trying to complete my prerequisites to apply for all of the nursing schools in LA County. :wink2: My only problem is I don't see myself in a position to quit my job and dedicate my entire day to go to nursing school. I found out that Mt St. Mary's College has an evening/weekend program. The only thing that is discouraging me is the price tag.:eek:This seems like my only option at this point seeing that all of the community colleges have lotteries. And I'm not the luckiest person. I'm afraid I won't get picked and I have to wait semester after semester to get into a CC when I could have just gone to a private school. I wanted to hear from previous graduates of the ADN Program at Mt. St. Mary's College. How did you pay and are the student loans causing you any financial hardships? Where you able to find a job quickly? My husband and I recently paid off a substantial amount of debt from credits cards recently so that's why I'm so worried about being in debt again. I know education is an investment but because of the economic situation right now I'm just trying to be cautious. Thank you in advance. :wink2:

Hi Mrs.Me...have you looked into Glendale Community College? Its one of the few CC around LA County that has a weekend program. The application period just ended (Sept 5) for Sp '09, but it's still worth looking into...:typing

I am graduating from the Mount St. Mary's ADN program in two weeks. Try signing up for financial aid and cal grants. The Mount has an automatic transfer scholarship if gpa above 2.5 (at least I think it is still in effect). and Dean's list gets some money as well, and there are plenty of scholarships ou could look out for. The financial advisors at the school are very nice and willing to do everything they can to help out your situation as a lot of the students are from lower income families.

Hope this helps.

Boots n pearls..

After financial aid about how much was the program?? I am a single mom with a son so I think my EFC is like 0..so I think I will qualify for alot of financial aid..if I had a great chance at getting in to a CC 8 months later, for dirt cheap..would you wait?? My gpa is pretty competive and I met with a nursing counselor at my CC and she thought I had a great chance at getting accepted to at least one if not more CC's in the fall?? Do you think the debt is worth it at MSMC??

Oh and finding a job after is not a problem for most of us. We just took our last final last night and those who are actively job searching have already been offered positions. I currently have gotten 2 hospital offers and 1 dermatology practice offer.
