Need guidance

Im currently a college student with all the prereqs for nursing but during my 2 1/2 yrs I did bad. I got C's and a couple of D's and 2 F's. I am retaking some of those D and F classes but my GPA wont go above a 2.5 unless i take more classes that i dont really need. Im doing a little better this semester like i said before 2.5 GPA isnt gonna get me into my university's nursing school, so im thinking about applying to Miami Dade College Associate Nursing program but it is unlikely that i will get in since the min GPA is 2.0 but the applicants all have 3.0 and above and the waiting list is 2-3yrs! My other option is LPN which apparently does not look at GPA only these two test that they make u take and only accept the top 50 scores into their program. Has anyone gone threw something similar? Im soo stressed now. I wish i could go back in time and undo it all.

In my part of the woods even 4.0 students have to wait. My suggestion is to retake all your classes and learn from your past study habits. LPN might be the way to go, then you can bridge to RN

My GPA went from a 2.48 to a 3.24. I have been taking pre reqs since August 2006 (and thats including 2 summer and 2 maymester semesters) and am about to start nursing school in January 2010. I honestly never thought I would make it to nursing school. It seemed so far away, so much that I couldn't even day dream about being in nursing school, because I truly didn't know if I would ever get accepted anywhere. I had to re take a lot of classes and when I applied to my school of choice (and the only school I applied to) for the first time I was denied, however, I wasn't very surprised. I scheduled an appointment with the advisor/recruiter of the nursing school and asked her what I could do to better my chances of being accepted. She told me to retake more classes, so thats what I did! And when I finished the classes she suggested that I retake, I emailed her with my grades, and then thanked her for her help via a seperate email. I tried email her whenever possible so that she knew I wanted this badly, and also so that when she saw my name on the application, she knew who I was. I also volunteered at a hospice and tutored A&P for three semesters. NONE of this happened over night. It took a long time in and outside of school to better my chances of being accepted. and FINALLLLYY literally by the grace of God I got accepted to my school of choice and am now starting nursing school in less than 5 weeks. Don't give up! Just trust that it will happen when it's supposed to happen. In the mean time, make it a hobby to volunteer somewhere, and make the best out of this waiting period. Eventually, YOU WILL be a nurse!

thank you all for your help. i will first try to finish up this coming semester to get all the requirements for nursing(RN). then apply either way to a nursing school even tho i wont get in, but the LPN program starts only once a year so i will have to wait till nxt august so I might try to take a 3mon course like phlebotomy at Miami Dade college just to spice up the resume then take the two test for LPN and hope im in the top 50...
