I am currently in KSU's nursing program. I had an overall GPA of 3.3 (maybe even a 3.2*), however my science GPA was a lot higher. I did not get accepted my first time, so I went to see Fran Herzig and asked her what I could do to better my chances and she said the retake my SOCI and PYSC (because I took those classes my freshmen year when I wasn't a very good student and made c's). Once I did that and made A's then re applied, I got accepted. I would say you should definitely have A&P I and II completed prior to applying (or have it completed before application deadline). Also, I did not do well at all on my TEAS, but my science GPA made up for it. Let me know if you have any more questions! DO NOT give up! I NEVER thought I would get accepted to kennesaw. To be honest, I had a hard to believing I would ever get accepted any nursing school, but by the grace of God I did! Keep trying and show them that you WANT to go Kennesaw and you will work as hard as it takes to get in! Oh and one last thing, keep in mind that with the new nursing building opening, I think they will be accepting more students.

My GPA went from a 2.48 to a 3.24. I have been taking pre reqs since August 2006 (and thats including 2 summer and 2 maymester semesters) and am about to start nursing school in January 2010. I honestly never thought I would make it to nursing school. It seemed so far away, so much that I couldn't even day dream about being in nursing school, because I truly didn't know if I would ever get accepted anywhere. I had to re take a lot of classes and when I applied to my school of choice (and the only school I applied to) for the first time I was denied, however, I wasn't very surprised. I scheduled an appointment with the advisor/recruiter of the nursing school and asked her what I could do to better my chances of being accepted. She told me to retake more classes, so thats what I did! And when I finished the classes she suggested that I retake, I emailed her with my grades, and then thanked her for her help via a seperate email. I tried email her whenever possible so that she knew I wanted this badly, and also so that when she saw my name on the application, she knew who I was. I also volunteered at a hospice and tutored A&P for three semesters. NONE of this happened over night. It took a long time in and outside of school to better my chances of being accepted. and FINALLLLYY literally by the grace of God I got accepted to my school of choice and am now starting nursing school in less than 5 weeks. Don't give up! Just trust that it will happen when it's supposed to happen. In the mean time, make it a hobby to volunteer somewhere, and make the best out of this waiting period. Eventually, YOU WILL be a nurse!

Has anyone received any information yet? I thought they were supposed to be sending a packet around Nov 1.

Hey! I was the only one being interviewed so they may not ask these type of questions, but they asked a lot of "name a time questions.." Like name a time when you had a difficult patient or customer and how you handled it, name a time when you had to make a difficult decision, name a time when you were required to perform several tasks at one time and how you handled it, and then also why you chose nursing and what brought you here. It also may help if you do some research on the school incase they ask why you chose the school you did. I think they really like to hear their school is desired. Oh yeah, and getting a killer outfit helps too! Wish you the best!

Does anyone know when orientation will be?

Hey everyone, I also was accepted into the Traditional program, by the Grace of God!! I am going to look at appartments soon.. Is anybody looking to move near ksu campus and need a roomie? For anyone that didn't get accepted, don't give up or lose hope. This was my second time applying, and it will happen for you when its supposed to happen. I'm sure that's not very reassuring, but do know what my heart goes out to all of you and I wish the very best for you!

YAY Malkavian!!!!! I'm so happy for you!! Congratlations! What a relief, huh!??! I'm sitting at my computer right now working on school work and my heart is racing bc mailman will be here anytime time now. I hope I have a letter, whether acceptance or not. I don't want to have to wait another day! I'll let you all know what the outcome is if it comes in today. I'm leaning on God know that He has a plan for my life!! So your friend interviewed and didn't get accepted? That's a bummer! I didn't get accepted the first time I applied to ksu. I'm hoping with all my heart I get accepted this time, but if I don't, I do have a plan B, I just don't want to have to go to plan B incase that one doesn't work! Trusting in God and seeking patience! This waiting is really killing me! I hope we get them Monday!

Yes I'm sure we are definitely annoying them lol. I called this morning and they told me they sent them yesterday, so HOPEFULLY we get them tomorrow!!

Kelbel, thank you so much for going out of your way to let us know! Congratulations your baby! Will he/she be your first? I recently read a thread (from allnurses.com) this woman in nursing school wrote to her son. The thread is called Thank you Son, and basically she thanks him for being there for her with his love and kisses and waking up at 430am to get dropped off at the babysitters so she could go to clinicals, and it truly is a beautiful letter, you should definitely read since you have One on the way! Just search Thank you Son on the this website and you should find it. I hope we get out letters this week! Good luck to all of you! :)
