Need a change....any suggestions?

Published

Hello all,

I have been a nurse in Toronto at a home care agency for 7 years now and I think the time has come for me to relocate. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of possible positions for nurses outside the hospital. I think I have been spoiled with the amount of flexibility I had doing homecare and am looking for something non-traditional. I was thinking maybe an outpatient clinic of some kind, but they are difficult to find. Please help. I welcome your creativity. I am a diploma trained RN currently in the BScN program at Ryerson.

The recruiter from the Northwest Territories was in town last week. She made outpost nursing sound very exciting.

Have you any interest in working with innercity patients? Look into the Salvation Army and other assistance groups that work with the under priviliged/indigent population.

Nursing jobs are out there you just have to determine where your interest lie.

Have you ever thought of working at Canadian Blood Services or in a Dr's office where they require RN's.

If you don't mind NOT having hands on maybe research would be a good idea. -like with the governement. They sometimes need RN's or maybe TeleHealth.

Also you could be a case manager with CCAC. (Community Access Centre)

There's also RN's in dentist offices where they do minor surgery and they need to somebody to assist the dentist and regulate the anesthesia.

Hope this gives you ideas. It's just a matter of finding it and getting in!
