Need advice - Would I get in to CRNA school? Lower science GPA

Switch to an adult ICU for two years, and then apply. Take a grad level science or stats class in the meantime, and do very well. Those will go a long way.

Every application can have one hole in it, but currently yours has two. Both fixable. But since CRNA school is essentially 100% science, shouldn't you find out if that is the problem before you quit your job, move, and pay 20K for your first semester, only to flunk out?

I'm not currently in a CRNA program but have done tons of research during my process of applying. Many programs are looking for adult ICU experience. I'm not sure if you already have your eye on a program that will accept your experience, but it is worth looking into. As far as your science GPA, I would also take some graduate level classes (or even more advanced undergraduate classes) as the previous poster mentioned. I found that many programs are looking for strong science GPAs. I would do some research and figure out which schools you want to go to and then see what you can do to make application more competitive at those schools. Hope this helps and good luck!

Re take some of those science classes. I have spent the last year retaking some, and then adding some (organic chem, physics). My science GPA has increased significantly. I know people who have gotten into school with only Peds experience, so unless someone knows for sure, I wouldn't necessary worry too much about that. I would spend time trying to get that GPA up! good luck.

Hi, I know this post is a little old, but I felt compelled to reply. I have nearly the same stats. I had a couple of terrible grades when I took my science courses due to being a young, irresponsible student so my science GPA is 3.2. My cumulative is about 3.5. I retook a science class and ended up getting a C (long story, I would have had an A!!) so it didn't help my look better on paper.

I have seven years of PICU and then Peds CVICU experience, PALS, ACLS, NRP, CCRN. research committee, volunteer work, preceptor, charge RN, etc. MY GRE is 312, with a 4 on analytical writing.

The only difference is I just transferred to an adult level I trauma SICU.

I am applying to 2 schools this year and will see what happens. I am hoping for the best, but open to the idea that I may have to retake some classes this coming year and reapply. It's a daunting process, but will be worth it!!
