Need Advice!!!!!

Can anyone give me advice on what to do the night before the NCLEX. I want to relax and get a good night's sleep before the exam. The last time I took the NCLEX, I was up half the night from anxiety. So for anyone who has taken the NCLEX, can you tell me what helped you. :uhoh21:

Take a nice long hot relaxing bath after watching a good comedy (movie). Do not take anything to help you sleep unless you know how your body is going to react to it...b/c you may feel like you have a hangover the next day. Good luck on your NCLEX!!!!!!!!

i agree!!! enjoy a movie and sleep early! good luck!!!

I agree with the others. Do something that you enjoy and have not done in a long time. what ever you do, do not touch any books or anything to do with the nclex exam because this will only increase your anxiety about what you do or do not know. get a good night sleep and go into the testing center with the attitude that I know I can do this. best of luck on your exam, I am praying for you. :nurse:

update: i passedddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

awesome,

was going to respond but you passed. Oh, well for someone else. Four of us from school went to a movie the night before. Went to bed at a decent hour. We all passed. The ones who stayed home to study were nervous wrecks.

:smiley_aa congratulations janetrette!!! can you share with us what did you encounter from the test?

my nclex that i took had priority question. one of them i was struck on all 4 which was so stressful. all of them were emergency but i just took a deep breathe and think what will happen to each one.

i had priority labs as well. meaning they gave me a disease or drug and ask me what labs are priority. those were new to me.

i took kaplan which i think was a waste of money but i love the QBANK Questions i think thats why i passed since i practice a lot i mean a lot of questions. i did the 3week course from the state board of nursing online. one of my friends told me she got a question from there but i'm not too sure if it's true.

and of course i used saunders. every week i pick a subject: few days ob, few days peds, no psy because i felt i just needed to practice questions and just went over terms. and all med-surg.

in the saunders i find the info was overwhelming so i did went back to my ob and peds notes and everything came back to memory.

as for drugs: i didn't really study it. just the main drugs such as digoxin, lasix, heparin, coumadin, antibiotics, lithium, librium, dilantin. the drugs were too overwhelming for me to study but i know if you study by classification it is much easy then one drug at a time.

i had kaplan course book which had list of drugs in classification. it was too overwhelming but i choose just some to study from it.

i think the key to passing this exam is to know a general of everything. the exam was nothing as i expected. things weren't even in the book and everything was just thinking thinking thinking.

i still in shock that i pass because only 1question i knew i got right. lol.

and also i had hellen feur cds from my friends - i just listen day and night, shower, before sleep and it helps to recall the general information.

hope this helps!!!!

Janetrette, thank you for the tips i really appreciate it. I only had Saunders (green) which Suzanne recommend it. I think the QBank from Kaplan that you mentioned is so expensive which i cant afford it (poor me) hehehe... I also ask in this forum about the mosby but nobody reply into it, lol. Goodluck on your career :)

hey cHicHiPaYpAy vbmenu_register("postmenu_1119982", true); do you happen to live in nyc? just wondering.

the mosby is very similiar comparing to saunders however there are chapters that saunder has that mosby dont have. saunder is more organzied. there's chapters on tube, nutrition, etc. i think the saunder is the better choice. just my opinion.

i didn't practice any saunders questions because there's so much! however while i was in school i managed to practice the question in back of my book. but nclex exam style isn't straight-forward which i think kaplan offers a better choice. priority questions, drugs, and helps you think. they told me kaplan questions are even harder than the real nclex to help you "critical think"

still i think the nclex is out of this world but not impossible!!!!!!!!!!!

remember that! people had passed it and so you can!

the state board of nursing offers a 3week online course for $50. questions are easier than kaplan but it got priority questions.
