I'm currently enrolled at a community college and my gpa is a 2.5. I know it sucks but I had a few horrible professors and for me to learn I need a professor that wants to help you pass. No matter how much I studied in my previous class the professor refused to help you out which is why I'm retaking a&p 1. I still have micro, a&p 2, gen chem 2, statistics, abnormal psych, and an arts elective to take. I know I can get above a 3.0.
I'm very interested in Jefferson's prelicensure bsn program. I've emailed the admissions guy and he told me one retake in one course does not hurt you. If I retake it more then once in one course it'll hurt me. Well I have to retake gen chem 1. I received a C. Chemistry does not stick in my head. I have a very hard time with it. I'm afraid that by repeating two courses Jefferson will not consider me. I emailed the admissions guy this and he never answered.
I want to be a nurse more then anything in the world. I know I don't have the best gpa but I can guarantee you that I have A LOT more passion for it then some nurses you see. I also obtained my cna license in July and I'm having a hard time finding a job but I'm not giving up.
I feel like there's no hope for me because I have to retake some classes. Jefferson is my number one school, my dream school. Do you think I have the slightest chance of being considered based on what the admissions guy told me?

There's not a definite answer to your question, only the school can answer you. Your chances of getting into a nursing school are higher when you apply to more than one school (typically it is recommended to apply to four - five schools) in the event that Jefferson does not select you for their program. Also, find help outside of your Chemistry class and improve your grade. I cannot begin to tell you how much chemistry is in nursing school and if you are struggling in fundamental chemistry then it'll only get harder when you join nursing school.

Chemistry was tough for me too. I borrow "Chemistry for Dummies" from the library and did every assignment and extra credit project. It should be a little easier since you've taken it once.
Like the other person said, you may need to find a nursing school that doesn't penalize you for retaking a class. I think it would be better to retake a class and get an A than not to retake it. It shows that you are perseverent and mastered the material.
