Need some advice

So I have taken my lifespan, nutrition and English comp already. There is a nursing program opening up soon (RN) and they have all the pre-req classes included. My thinking is if I do some of my science classes before, I would be a better candidate right? Has anyone else did a rn program with the pre-reqs built in? If so was it better to have some/all pre-reqs done prior? I just want to have the best chance possible of getting admitted. Thanks in advanced! P.s. It's an accelerated adn program 16 months.

At my school your first two years were all gen-ed courses. This included basic math & english classes to microbiology to chemistry to a&p to pathophysiology. Honestly it's best to get as much out of the way while you can, if you can go ahead and get some science classes out of the way go for it :) Best of luck with nursing school!

I'm not sure about whether or not it will help you get into the program, but if you can get as much out of the way as possible especially if it's an accelerated program. Nursing courses can be very time consuming and it can be hard to juggle a schedule that includes sciences as well. Just make sure this program will accept the credits before you take anything since I don't think you want to take your sciences twice.

I don't know about what state you're in, but here in California, it would be sooooooo much easier if the classes were built into the program. There is such a huge increase of student going back to school or changing their major into nursing/pre-med that it is so challenging just to get into one of the preq science classes each semester. Honestly, I have to register each semester to every local community college (8) and I am lucky to get into one each semester. It's so challenging! I say full steam ahead and with it being accelerated, that's a double star bonus! Good luck!:dancgrp: Happy dance for you!

Thanks ladies. Yeah the school will accept my credits so im really happy about that! I was thinking the same thing about doing as many pre-reqs prior so I could focus on the nursing core classes. Thats why I thought i'd look like a better candidate since I could focus more on the core classes, which is why a lot of programs insist on doing them before.... I am originally from California just moved from there to Alaska(husband is military). I got into a lpn program out there but couldnt do it since he recieved orders here :-( Thanks a lot for the Happy Dance!!!
