Need Advice!!

My 4 year old nephew stepped on a nail today (barely went in but it did te chnically puncture the skin) he had his last dpt at 18 mos and is due shortly before school starts. 2 different opinions from dr. office nurses- one says no problem cause he is up to date, the other says to close to call due to the puncture and that he needs a new one within 72 hours. They don't have appts available though. So the question is does he need a shot now even though he is not behind, or not. I think hes fine but she (my sis) is freaking out. Thank you.

I'm very sorry your nephew has had this injury. I'm even more sorry that I can't offer you the advice you seek, nor can any other member, since we are not qualified to provide medical advice in this sort of venue. I'd suggest that your sister follow her instincts and do whatever they tell her. My philosophy in most things is "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".
