Hi everyone! So, i have been battling with this for almost two weeks now...I need someone to help me weigh the pros and cons...no one in my family is quite educated enough in nursing programs to be able to help me effectively!
I was accepted to Umass Boston- But unfortunately, not for nursing. They admitted me to the Health Science program, saying there is always a chance to transfer into nursing. I already hold a bachelors degree, and have completed all my prereqs. My end goal is to hold a second Bachelors in nursing.
I was also accepted to the Mass bay ADN program. I have a lot of credits that will transfer into this program, so I could likely complete it a very reasonable amount of time. Then I woudl go back to get the bachelors.
The catch: Mass bay is an hour from my house. UMB is 25 minutes. I need help figuring out which program might get me closer to my goal quicker.
Does this dilemma make sense to anyone?? I honestly cannot make a choice....!! Help...!
sorry! i need to edit this to add that I dont hold an official acceptance letter from Mass Bay...they only sent me the credit transfer eval. and said I woud get a letter. I'm just basing this on the..."IF i get in" theory.

The MassBay ADN day program is 2 years, regardless of how many transfer credits you have. The MBCC ADN evening program is 3 years.
UMass Boston has an accelerated BSN program for those who already hold a bachelors that is 15 months start to finish.
The easy answer to your question would be UMass Boston accelerated program, assuming you get accepted. There are quite a few accelerated programs in MA you may want to consider, just be forewarned they are VERY competitive, as are all the nursing programs in MA.
Good Luck with your decision!

Be very careful with Mass Bay. They are a great school.
However take all of your Lab Sciences in House (At Mass Bay if possible) do not go running to other schools closer to home to take your lab science courses. They are very picky about transferring lab science courses from other colleges. The last thing you want to do is take A&P again.
Also if Mass Bay is an hour from your house. Keep in mind Nursing is at the Framingham Campus. There are many Boston Area Colleges close to the UMass Area that have programs.
Here is a list from the MA BON of EVERY Nursing Program from LPN all the way up to NP in the State:

Pegasus,
I had the same exact dilemma. I chose massbay because after completing the ADN program, I can do the accelerated ONLINE BSN program at Umass.. 3 semesters! Being online it's quite a relief that there would be no commute and I can access whenever I have time. Hope you made the choice that suits you best!
