Need advice with getting started at Excelsior College

Published

Hi, I am trying to get started with excelsior but am so totally confused. I come on here often to try and gather all the advice I can, however I still get totally confused. You all are so wonderful and have so much knowledge and I am truly grateful to have this website to come to. I just wish I had like a set plan on the best way to move forward, like step 1,2,&3, if that makes sense. I have applied to excelsior but have not enrolled yet, I have no prereqs done yet, so I am trying to figure the best way to get those done. Any advice about the best steps to take to move forward would be really and truly appreciated. Thank you guys in advance :)

The application was step one! =) Once you know what classes you need my suggestion to save money would be to CLEP out of any gen ed requirements you can, or check out straighterline.com and do their self paced classes for credit (they even have an A&P with lab!!! and EC does accept their credits) do one class at a time, and set up a date of how long you will take...say algebra is your first class, look at your schedule and decide how long you want to take to do it. set an end date for EVERYTHING so that you don't waste time. When you have all of those taken, have straighterline or clep send your results to EC to update your transcript, apply to EC and start doing the same with the nursing classes. before long you will be graduated! PS...my friend worked really hard but took two straighterline courses within a month, worked out really cheaply for her!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me advice. I will look into straighterline, again, thank you :)
