i graduated in may 2014 with my BSN i took NCLEX july 21 and failed.. first go around i took hurst and attended the live review and watched all videos and did all questions in the q bank scoring 70-85 and it was said if you're in the 80s you are likely to pass..i did not.
it took me a while to get out of my depressed funk but the past 3 weeks i have been doing questions questions questions i am up to about 3000 done and i am scheduled to re take this thurs sept 25th.
this time i had access to kaplan and i watched the videos and believe knowing the decision tree has been very helpful this time doing practice questions my trainers scores have been
qt1=55
2=51
3=50
4=55
5=56
i have not done 6 or 7 am going to do today..
i also purchased ncsbn 3 week course and on their question banks i have been getting between 60-80% i am not sure what score is good or ideal for them but i purchased because people said their questions resemble the NCLEX since they write the exam..
i also have been doing short quizzes in areas i lack in on evolve website using saunders 5th edition Q&A getting scores ranging from 60-70%
i am getting nervous because i did not pass the first time and i want to start my dream career of being an RN nursing school was hard and if i can get through that i believe I can pass this exam
any last minute advice or comments on my scores so far please comment back
thank you
congrats to everyone that has passed so far
and those who have failed i understand but we will make it

You will definetly make it. I passed on Monday 22nd at 75 questions first time. Still a bit stunned but I used Kaplan, got the low 50's till the readiness test when I got 67.
I didnt cram cram every drug in my head but did the ones I felt would come up, antibiotics, cardiac, Parkinson's, anti psychotics and any unusual ones that might stand out. The exam for me was easier than the Kaplan question trainers 6 and 7 -the NCLEX questions don't seem as complex.
just keep your finger off the mouse and use what you learned in Kaplan, I kept asking myself what are they asking and when I looked at the answers I asked why for every one and discounted them. Take your time, breathe and you will be grand!!!! Good luck

Hi ~
Nobody can tell you if you will pass or not, though your chances are greatly increased if you know core content backwards and forwards (i.e fundamentals, some information on specific diseases/conditions treatments/procedures/teaching within each body system, infection control/precautions, priority/delegation, etc.) about and some test taking strategies. Do you understand and have reviewed rationales for the q's you've practiced? Lastly, read every word on NCLEX carefully - the question and the answer choices. Often, you can miss something very relevant in either the question/answer that is key! Use your strategies to eliminate wrong answer choices.
I took NCLEX last month and used Kaplan (among 4 or 5 other resources). I wanted to ensure I knew "a bit about everything" as NCLEX is a very broad test. Some questions are obscure or tricky - this is where good test taking strategies come along. I passed.
Best of luck!! We're rooting for you. :)
