Hey guys my physical and interview is on Monday for the NCP. Any tips from NCP applicants or candidates would be appreciated! I was wondering what exactly we will be doing for the physical since my recruiter said it will take at least a few hours. Also interview tips would be awesome! Thanks guys!

Interview tips: Just be relaxed, ask questions, this is your chance to interview them as well.
MEPS physical: Pretty low key, they weigh you, take some blood, have you strip down to your undies and do some exercises together in a group to check your range of motion. A "peek" to see that you are the sex that you say you are. A urine test, hearing test, a vision test and a lot of waiting around for certification that you're fit for duty! At my MEPS station I got a special name tag that said I was an Officer Candidate and so I got to go to the front of the line everywhere...didn't take long for the rest of the people to get sick of that and stop talking to me!
Haha... i guess i'm in for a very interesting and memorable day! When you were applying and got the numbers break down, is NCP really all that competitive? I'm hoping that I just get in considering all the work I put into the application. I mean I am well within the gpa requirements and very athletic haha. Wishful thinking!

NCP is competitive. I'm not sure what the numbers breakdown to, but I know without a doubt that the numbers don't properly reflect how competitive it really is. Recruiters will either turn away non-competitive candidates or not be really helpful if they don't think you have a chance. You're probably going to get in if you've made it this far, but I wouldn't be so confident sounding. With all that said, good luck and I hope the best for you.
Thanks willhigg6,
I read somewhere that you said you were accepted into the NCP. Congrats!! I was wondering if you remember what month you turned in your kit and when you had heard back from the board. I recently did my two interviews with two nurse corp officers as well as get my physical done and my kit should be going to the board soon. However, I just found out today through this forum that FY2013 is already closed. Do you think that I could still get picked up for FY2014 even if I was supposed to be in FY 2013? I graduate August of 2013. On the brochure it says that I need at least 6 months of school remaining before graduation and I do meet that requirement (even if I have to wait until August to be reviewed). However my recruiter has been making it seem like since FY2013 was almost filled (we met last week) that I would have to switch to DA and that it would be the only option. Thanks for your time!

Is FY2013 closed for both branches? I'm set to graduate in August 2013 also and I'm only just beginning the process... What a wrench to throw in there right off the bat! My recruiter didn't mention anything about it being closed when we spoke yesterday.

bmichellejoyner - if your recruiter is working with you - go with it. I believe the Navy is closed, but I have no clue for the Army as there hasn't been much discussion on the Army's NCP recently. Just know that things can change - in either direction. During my process I was told that the program was closed and then a month or two later, it was reopened. But the sooner you have your kit done, the better! Good luck!
Oaktown, the recruiter I spoke with was a REALLY nice man; however, he didn't seem super informed about what was going on, to be honest. I mentioned that I'd read about the in-school stipend (I'd read about it on the Army website) and he initially told me that was inaccurate. He looked it up and discovered that I was correct though. Also, he asked me to email him with my contact information and said he'd get back to me within the day; that was yesterday morning and I haven't heard anything from him since. I know he's probably very busy, but taking this into consideration and adding in the new knowledge that FY2013 might not even be open, I'm getting a little nervous. Any recommendations?
bmichellejoyner - you are talking to a health care recruiter, right? if you are just trying to find out if they are still taking people, you could try calling another hc recruiter that doesn't deal with your area. since ncp isn't typically a very big program, recruiters aren't always totally aware of the details which doesn't mean that overall they don't know what they are doing. but i would at least follow up with your recruiter in another day or so, no reason not to keep trying until someone tells you no. the other thing is that you can join up until you are 42 (47 in af). i know that may not be exactly what your plans are, but if you want it, you can probably get it, at some point. keep your options open and keep working on your grades and resume so that you have a great shot when you get your chance! one last thought, there used to be an army recruiter who would post periodically (screen name sfc jimenez), i haven't seen any posts in a while, so no idea if he still visits the boards, but you could send him a message to see if ncp is still taking people. worth a shot!
