Hello everyone! I really appreciate the support I get from this site. I am about 4 weeks away from retaking the NClex and trying to not be nervous- I have been doing 100?'s a day from Saunders. The only part I don't like about Saunders is that you get alot of repeat questions. I was wondering if anyone knew of a CD that had alot of priority questions on it. I know from taking the Nclex a couple of weeks ago that there are a lot of those questions on there.
If there is anyone else out there that are having to retake the nclex soon? or have taken it more than once and has any advice? or success stories!!!!!

I just retook my nclex exam last friday, unfortunately I did not pass again, which isnt stopping me from taking it again.I had a lot of prioritzing, delegating, one math and one select all that apply, and a few mechanical questions,so i learned from my test taking it twice,I did order a book that has all the prioritizing in it that was recommended on this site,so im going to start from the beginning and hope for the best.Good luck to you,Youll make it:)

I took the NCLEX for the first time Monday January 30th. I got 75 questions and failed. I will be taking it again around the time you will be as well. I really think that half my problem was that both of my parents drove me to take the test...my mom and I do not get a long at all and I had to listen to her and my dad argue the whole way. But also, I think that i have a hard time eliminating answers. Sometimes I guess I don't know what the question is asking. The last time I took the NCLEX I was super prepared. I had prepared months in advance, but I think honestly I did way too many questions, and the two days before my test, I spent about 16 hours doing questions. I exhausted myself. I hadn't planned to cram, but essentially I think that's what I did. This time I am really practicing answering questions and eliminating and working a lot on priority issues. I think the overall knowledge base is there, but unfortunately, the NCLEX is not knowledge based. They already assume since you graduated from nursing school that you know that basics. Man, they sure did not prepare my graduating class to take this exam. I was shocked. It was nothing like I had expected. This time I will spend the last two days relaxing. I'm also getting a hotel room the night before right across the street from the testing center. I know I am rambling. I hope this helps! Don't feel alone. I am right there with you:)

I agree with you My graduating class was definately not prepared for that sort of testing,But I know the basics are there I to crammed and studied like no tommorow,But I think it was alot of what and how I was studying,so I have a whole new plan to this thing lol.............Im determined and will pass it and a lot i think to is when i get in front of that computer I blank right out.I can sit at home and test and do great,I work as an LNA in the meantime A girl I work with we are both in the same boatwe are both going on 3 and hoping to get it done.Good luck to you and keep me posted:)

Cramming just doens't work for most, that is not how the exam is designed.
The exam is designed to see how you will use the information that you learned in school, not retesting on the same material.
The easiest way to describe it is : common sense and the ABCs thrown in. But this common sense doesn't kick in until you start thinking like a nurse, and not as a student. What would you do if you were the only nurse there in a situation, and not have any resources to contact. That is how you need to prepare for the exam.
This is also another reason to take the exam before beginning a new job. There is just too much information that you need to learn for your new job, let alone to go home and prepare for the exam.

i took the nclex too last monday, and i haven't seen my name come up, so i think i'll have to retake it again. i had a feeling i did really bad anyway. this test just makes you feel so miserable, like my life would just revolve around it but i just wanted to know which book you ordered that has all the prioritizing questions similar to the NCLEX. i have the saunders and lipincott, but they have lots of repeats and just a few prioritizing questions, mostly the facts and just basics. or if anyone else suggests a book with good prioritizing questions or common questions on NCLEX, please let me know. thanks. for those taking and retaking it again, good luck and study hard. you are not alone. eventually we will pass this, it's just a matter of time, i guess.
Thanks for all the information. I AM going to pass that thing this time. I had really bad test anxiety the first time and I like you am not going to even look at one single question two days before the test. I have been following Suzanne's Plan which seems to be really popular on this website. The only other review I have been doing is the Kaplan Review book. It doesn't have a whole lot of questions in it but it has a lot of HOW TO answer the questions. I read the whole book once and am going over it again. Where I work they demote you to a Unit Secretary once you fail, so I have plenty of time on my hands at work to read. After I read that book and then started back on questions the next day, I got in the high 70's and even 80's when I was taking my practice test. Maybe that will help you guys too. Some of the people who have failed it once and passed it the second time swear by that Kaplan book. But I need to find that book that has alot of prioritizing, I really would like to find a disc that I could do on the computer with prioritizing so that it is more like the NCLEX. We can all hang in there together!!!!
EVE11---Does your state not have the Quick Test Results from Pearson Vue? It takes 48 hours and you can log onto their site and get instant results.
im from california, and i think it takes only 2 days to find out. but CA dont participate in the quick results on pearson vue, so i check it on the CA BON, the license verification section. i took it monday, so it should be up wed. i counted the monday after they updated and tuesday. i checked today, and i didn't see my name. oh well :(
