NCLEX @ 75

Published

HELLO! I took the NCLEX RN exam for the 3rd time today at 12:30. I literally took 3 hours to go through only 75 questions. I had about 7 SATA, bunch of priority questions (essential, priority, and first) , 2 med calcs, and I ended on a multiple choice question. My last question was a paragraph, asking about a nurse who goes to a conference and what the unit team should do to afterwards. I am freaking out because my job is on the line, and my offer could be terminated. TOO SCARED to do the PVT! HELP!!! ANY THOUGHTS???

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Take some deep breaths and wait for your results. You have sat the exam now there is nothing to do but wait, especially if you don't want to do the trick.

Good luck

Most of what you wrote has no bearing on whether you passed or failed. Format type, area of questions, focus of questions.....means nothing. SATA is a format type, and is not indicative or passing or failing....and any question may be above or below the passing standard.

ONE thing you said, however, DOES mean something: receiving the minimum number of questions means you either nailed it, and were able to demonstrate competency in 75 questions.....or, you did very poorly, and the computer 'gave up' at that point.

This is your third time through. Is it MORE likely you were able to do very well and get through with the minimum number, or more likely you bombed it? Did you take into account your CPR when you created a new study plan? How did you do on practice tests?

There's really nothing you can do but wait. If your State participates in Quick Results, I'd highly recommend you pay the eight bucks and find out once and for all how you did. Otherwise....get off the computer, get out of the house: go shopping, take the dog for a walk, meet a friend for lunch (and do NOT talk about the test, he/she doesn't want to hear it, trust me!). Anything to get your mind off this for a bit.

Good luck!
