Hi all!
I am about to graduate and move back to California! I need to sign up to take the NCLEX, but I am having difficulty navigating the site/ hear rumors that it takes 6 months to obtain a CA license. Can anyone, who has recent experience (within the last 2 months or so) with taking the NCLEX in CA, give me advice on how to go about getting fingerprinted, transcripts, test dates, etc? It has been very confusing and daunting thus far!
Thank you

Are you moving back from another state?
Yes, I am moving from Nebraska back to California ( my home).
CABON website will have all the information you seek. Fingerprints are easy. I think it too was listed in the CABON site. If not, there are fingerprint facilitator offices in just about every block.
CABOn is very busy so you may get your ATT from 2 weeks to 3 months. After taking the Nclex some get their results in 48 hours, while some like me over 30 days.

So I live in California, and the wait just to take NCLEX was horrible for my friends who graduated in December. One friend of mine had to wait until MAY! I graduated in May, had my ATT by June 6, and tested on June 26. My RN license posted to the CA BRN website two days later. And I have also received my little RN card (it's pretty!!!) and the certificate. So far, four in my class have taken boards and passed.
About five out of our class of 26 are still waiting for their ATT.
So basically, it's hard to say how long it will take. It's a bit of a crap shoot. :-)
Good luck!!
And yes, go the BRN website, as it will give you all the info you need regarding fingerprints and such. It's a lot of little hoops to jump through.
Wow, I wonder if in other states it is as bad? Maybe I would have better luck going to Nevada or something?? What a bunch of hoops, jumps, and latters! Gosh!
At one point, some of my classmates were considering testing for licensure in Oregon (we live just a couple hours from the border), but they were talked out of it. No matter which way you go, there are going to be hoops to jump through! It sucks, but that's what it is. :-)
How did you go about getting your ATT so fast??
No clue. I was one of the lucky ones, I guess. The ones who haven't received theirs yet have lots of tickets on their record, and one had an arrest. So we think that is holding things up.

Ca requires fingerprints, the fastest way to do this would be to go to a livescan facility in California (police station is the best place to go to ensure the prints won't be kicked back). If you can't go to California you can send a fingerprint card but that will delay the process significantly. If you do livescan the paper needs to be mailed (or uploaded) with your app. Transcripts need to be sent directly from the school, there's a paper they have to fill out and mail with the transcripts. You need a 4x4 passport-like picture attached to your application. These are just some of the main points, the steps are listed in the application packet posted online.
They recently set things up so you can complete the application online. I don't have experience with this but I imagine it would help speed things up.
I mailed my application and they received it May 23. Two weeks later, my check was cashed. I'm still waiting for my att. Here's the application page for the ca bon
