Nclex Statistics

The Good News

First time test takers:

Dipolma - 89.5% passed the first time in 2006

Associate - 88.0% passed the first time in 2006

Baccalaureate - 88.3% passed the first time in 2006

All people taking it the first time - 88.1% passed the first time in 2006.

The Not-So-Good News

Repeat test takers - 54.2% passed in 2006. So if you have to take the test a second time, there is a good chance you will also need to take it a third time.

Also point out these stats are for people who trained in the US if you trained outside the US then the figures are lower

Just an aside, there are many many people who pass the second time, me being one of them and many others I read about on the NCLEX forum here. Hope is not lost if you fail the first time :). Just a word of encouragement.

I passed on third attempt so it can be done, just find a good study guide and practice as many questions as you can and understand what the question is really asking you

I passed mine the second time around also and if I can pass it, anyone can.

I'm taking my boards for the second time on Tuesday.

I wanted to ask if you guys think that Kaplan is very similar to NCLEX questions? For some reason I don't remember much of my last test. I totally drew a blank on that one, probably froze in front of that computer. I hope this second time around is much different, although I can say that Kaplan has built my confidence up quite a bit, I like the program a lot.

Well I hope this doesn't apply for me, I take my boards for the second time on Tuesday, I hope I will contribute on changing these satatistics

As I said, I passed the boards last week on my second try. I used Kaplan both for my first and second time. I got more out of it on the second time and my scores were higher but I also reviewed content in Saunders. I failed the first time with 75 questions and passed the second time with 75 questions. Good luck to you and I'm sure you'll do fine!! :)

even though im educated outside the usa i manage to passed nclex-rn exam in just 1 take. my computer shut down at 77 questions. :loveya:

Thank you guys for your kind words, this is a very stressful time in my life and need to stay positive.

Good luck to you on Tuesday! :)

I wasn't trying to discourage anyone. I know that it is a stressful exam and I know how important it is to stay positive. Good luck all.
