Nclex....where do i start???

Published

Hello ALL,

I need some advice, I graduated Nursing school in August of 2011 and have not taken boards yet due to finances. Because of the large gap in time i a nervous about passing boards. I have the Saunders comprehensive Review 5ed. and LaCharity and was contemplating on doing Kaplan...i just feel so overwhelmed i don't know where to begin, with my study...I don't want to have to take it over and over because of the financial burden which adds more stress...so do anyone have any suggestions on a plan of action or any insight on Kaplan or Hurst review?...thank you soooo much in advance for you tips and insight...

Saunders is a great resource for reviewing content. I'd start with that one, since it's been almost a year since you graduated. Taking a Kaplan review would also be beneficial- if you can afford it- because it will help you get back into the test-taking mode and practice answering NCLEX questions. They also guarantee your results- so if you fail you get your money back.

It's hard to know where to start sometimes, but you've got to start somewhere. So pick a chapter or a body system and start chipping away at that Saunders book.

Saunders is enough for content I don't think you need any other course book for content study.Everyone says stick to only one course book. But you need to work on strategies and critical thinking which can only be achieved by doing more difficult questions.

Hurst is more about brushing up your content since you already have Saunders I don't think that's a good idea. You might want to consider KAPLAN for qbank I have used it and its a great tool. if you are short on money you can pay the course money in installments and they are also having some off right now on classes you can check their website..I can understand how you feel If possible pm me your email I will email you some notes and stuff that might help..GOOD LUCK TO US:)

I agree that about Kaplan & Saunders. Also, since you mention your finances are tight, you should look into NCSBN online review. It is $50 for 3 weeks of access.
