nclex rn is it impossible?

Published

hi there! i've been out for awhile.. ;)

this is my 2nd try to take nclex. after march 2010.

i really felt disappointed, plus knowing how hard the exam was, i feel frustrated. :(

right now im on-the process of taking it again.

i have sent my re-application.

i have started reviewing using SAUNDERS comprehensive and SAUNDERS Q& A.

i am planning to read Lacharity again and now, diligently. (I hAd it during my 1st exam, but failed to really understand and finish it)

i took kaplan international review before, ddnt really finish the whole course. i did half of the qbanks, finished all 7 QTs. and finished their books. now i'm confused if i should take it again.. given, they dont offer guarantee for international course so that means i have to pay again ( sucks i know!)

everytime i study now, i feel interested, saunders is really giving me a great time to study, its not boring and im really learning in-depth topics.

but sometimes, just ebfore bed. NCLEX REALLY SCARES me! what if i dont pass it again this time?

what more can i do so i will pass this 2nd time??

is it really impossible for me??

i'm feeling everything.. tho im not losing my hope and my dreams, sometimes just by thinking about the EXAm, it pulls u down. :crying2: no matter how much ur planning to prepare for it.

No matter what happens never give!!! You will pass! You have to time positive, PRAY, and believe that you can pass the nclex. I have failed 3 times already and though I have my days when I ask myself "what if" I stop and say a pray. You can do this just continue to study. The lacharity book is awesome.

Just make up your mind that you are going to work hard at it until you do pass. You can do it if you work at it and do not give up. Don't just skim over things or leave a lot out. Don't do it halfway. Complete each book. Take time to read all the rationales, not just the ones for questions you got wrong. Spend good time each day. And sooner or later, you will pass that test. Good luck.

I sat down after my fail on the first write and determined I refused to write the exam a third time - I was going to pass the second one so I wouldn't have to see it again. Then I did what caliotter3 suggested. It worked. :D

LaCharity is essential!!! I had so much prioritization and delegation. Please read through that whole book and the case studies. The rationales really explain the answers thoroughly. I did Kaplan 2010-2011, Saunders and Mosbys as well.

I also downloaded the NCSBN NCLEX app for my iphone and that was great as well. The questions were very similar to the exam. I mean, they are the ones who control the exam!

Take your time during your NCLEX. I had 75 questions and it took me about 2.5 hours. I contemplated every single answer and analyzed what it meant. the first thing you need to do is reword the question. I think that is the most important first step in tackling them. Those strategies in Kaplan are great!!!

remember...you are just brushing up on what you already know. questions , questions and more questions are the key.

I used the above books as well. (Saunders, LaCharity- awesome book, NCSBN review, Kaplan Strategy 2010-1011). Do at least 75-100 questions a day. It helped me get used to answering questions and thinking about the processes that are going on as well as learning new things. This ALLNURSES forum board is great as well. I learned a lot from these people like infection control stuff and easy ways to remember them. There are also lots of good links. I too had 75 questions and it took me almost 2 hrs to complete.

THANKS callioter!

this is really helpful..

i really like what you said.. " don't just skim over things or leave alot out. DOn't do it halfway. Complete each book."

i will do that, and hopefully this time, i will pass.

sometimes, i just feel down, all my friends are having their own jobs. (nursing field or not)

and i feel left alone.

i ask 'when will my life move on'

hopefully soon. im gonna wait for it!

thanks again! :)
