I am beginning to study for my NCLEX-RN exam. I am preparing with LaCharity 2e, NCLEX-RN Q&A Made Incredibly Easy 2012, Saunders Comprehensive Review 2006, and Memory Notebook of Nursing: Pharmacology & Diagnositics 2012.
Any suggestions on your journey that helped you pass this examination? Motivation(s)?

Good luck with your preparations!! I used the Saunders book as well it was really great and helped a lot...my school also provided us with ATI Virtual review course that provided us with a self paced online review with tons and tons of review questions and access to extra materials and nclex study help....Amazon kindle has a free RN course book and Nclex review book from Kaplan also..Good luck to you :)

Here is what im going to say and hopefullly it helps you.
If you have Failed the NLCEX already, or are just taking it for the first time, Look through these pharm notes on the PASSNCLEX notes. They will help you immensely on the pharm questions. Also, You must learn testing strategies. I know that is easier said than done, BUT you have to start to answer tons of NCLEX practice questions. By that, I mean go on to the NSCBN NCLEX website and sign up for their 3 week course. It is $50.00. I know you dont want to spend the money, but it will be worth it when you pass.
Trust me please, I was not an A nursing student. I got mostly B's and C's in school. YOU CAN PASS!!! Get used to answering a ton of questins and go through the rationale and why the other options are wrong. Also,. look for a pattern in the questions. On my Nclex, I noticed a pattern. After taking the NSCBN online course, and also doing the Saunders 6th edtion Select all that apply questions, I ended up getting very familiar questions on the Nclex that I had seen already...
Please trust me, I puked in the bathroom before the exam and got an hour of sleep the day before because I was so nervous. Keep calm, take a breathe and know that the more nervous you are, the harder it will be for you to stay focused.
~ANSWER NCLEX QUESTIONS ON NSCBN WEBSITE
~BUY THE SAUNDERS 6TH EDITION BOOK, USE THE CD AND ANSWER THE SELECT ALL THAT APPLY QUESTIONS AND THE DRAG AND DROP QUESTIONS!!
~~~~~PLEASE REMEMBER!! NCLEX IS NOT BASED ON CONTENT AS MUCH AS IT IS ON PRIORITY/DELEGATION, SAFETY AND EFFECTIVE CARE, AND MANAGEMENT.~~~~~~
PLEASE PLEASE FOCUS ON SAFETY QUESTIONS, AND STANDARD OF CARE QUESTIONS. FOCUS ON ISOLATION PRECAUTIONS FOR TB, SCABIES, PNEUMONIA, ETC. WHAT DO YOU NEED BEFORE GOING INTO THAT PATIENTS ROOM? MASK, GLOVES?? ARE THEY CONTACT PRECAUTION OR ARE THEY AIRBORNE?? WHAT DO YOU WEAR WITH CONTACT PRECATION OR AIRBORNE??
FOCUS ON THESE THINGS!!!
I know how stressed you are and how scary it is. Trust me. But know in your heart that you passed nursing school, and you have the compassion and drive to want to do this career.
Email me if i can help you any further.
Thank you for your help!
I mostly used Saunders, used the 30 day calendar that was on the Saunders CD. From there I actually used the kaplan program and the kaplan book. I used other books such as Davis and Lippincotts but not as much. I had two months until my exam date so I did about 75-100 questions a day. I studied minimum 4 hrs/day. The day before the exam, I did not study at all, it was a day off from anything nclex so I can feel refreshed for the next day. I made myself take 265 questions from kaplan only twice just to get in nclex mode (I did this a week before.) Be sure you understand the rationales of every question you review after you test youself each day. Review why a choice was wrong and why another choice is right.
I think that is the end of my rant for now. If you have any other questions just PM me
