NCLEX Predictor exams

Where are all of these predictor exams everyone is talking about? I looked on ATI and don't see an option for purchasing one? Still freaking out!!

Don't get all freaked out over something that is not a reliable indicator anyway. Spend your time in actual preparation. And don't forget to practice your relaxation techniques.

We were given two different ATI "predictor exams" during our last semester. They were proctored. Your score translates to some type of "predictive" percentage for passing the NCLEX. I do not know if they are available to individuals.

We took the Elsevier, and the results come from HESI, so I wonder if it's the HESI everyone talks about. I don't know how reliable they are anyway, I got in the top 98.98th percentile nationally, but scored 44% on Kaplan's CD that came with the book when I took it at almost the same time (both in February). I wouldn't waste my time to take it if I hadn't had to do it through school... I think it was too easy, and not a good indicator of the higher level questions. Take it with a grain of salt, of course, because I haven't taken boards yet.

I also took a proctored ATI predictor exam through my school...they have some kind of agreement with ATI (we had to purchase those stupid books every semester just to take an exam that was only worth 3% of our final grade). Anyways on that predictor I scored an 80% which equals a 98% chance of passing the NCLEX-RN on the first try. If you purchase the Kaplan 2010-2011 book it comes with 2 diagnostic exams (one is on the companion CD and one is paper/pencil in the book). The book states that if you score a 70 or greater you have the core nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to take exam style questions. I scored a 69 on the CD version and a 70 on the paper/pencil version. Taking the test twice and scoring in the same range is enough proof, for me, that the "diagnostic" value of the test is there. I feel pretty ready to take the NCLEX-RN exam. I will be starting questions out of LaCharity's book tomorrow. Good luck!

I did the Kaplan trainers which are not quite the same but similar I believe. You can buy them as part of the Kaplan program or download them online for free.
