I actually meant after my first year of clinicals( 3rd year of BSN program). The BSN is split into 2 yrs. pre-req's and 2 yr. actual nursing program. So, after 2 semesters(1 year) at UT Tyler we are able to sit for the LPN boards.

I was under the impression that you had to complete two years of your BSN in order to qualify to sit for the LPN exam, or one year of the ADN program..

Most of your first year is spent on pre-reqs................You may want to consult your BON and see if you are permitted to take it...............

There is alot of difference in a LVN and Tech. Yes, concentrate on your RN exams however being a LVN gives you alot of experience . I think spend the money take the LVN boards .I have been a LVN for years and the difference between me and my techs is about $30,000 a year...

Are you actually going to practice as an LPN while you are going to school?

Is there much of a difference in the scope of practice for you as a nurse tech vs. an LPN? If not, I would save your money and concentrate on passing your RN exams....................
