NCLEX-How long did you study?

Published

I took a review course, and want to take this test asap, how long do you think is enough time to prepare? I am really bad at sitting still & studying, but I need to just bang it out & get this done! I want to move up my test date, but I am nervous about not having enough prep time.

How long did you prepare?

You need to determine how much prep time is necessary for you. There are some people who retain everything from school and don't need much study, while others might need a solid four months to virtually repeat the learning process. Only you know what your knowledge base is.

Think of it this way: if (heaven forbid) you did not pass the first time, would you be satisfied with the effort you put into studying thus far? If you think you would look back and know you could have done more, than study a little longer.

I feel the same way, and just want to take the test now... but there is also no rush. I cannot start my job any sooner, so you may as well spend as much time preparing until then. If you are confident, go for it! Especially if you are not getting much out of it.

Weigh the pros and cons. Is there really a benefit to take it sooner? Is it worth buckling down for a couple weeks and increasing your confidence? Hopefully this is the only time you will have to take this... so think of it as your last big bought of studying!!

that depends on you. I got my ATT on June 16th and scheduled my test for the first available which was June 19th. My school had us take 2 mandatory reviews, Kaplan and Marian Sides review. I graduated May 27th. I felt ready by the end of nursing school, and wanted to take it asap. I passed in 75 questions. Do you feel ready to take it sooner? if so go for it! If not, study a bit more.
