So I take my exam after almost 2 months of studying and boy did I walk out of there feeling like a failure. I'm glad, after reading other posts, that I was not the only one. I hoped for 75, didn't happen. I prayed for 85, no luck. I finally gave in and prepared for the ride to 265. I stopped paying attention the time left and and the number of questions answered, then all of a sudden, my computered turned from gray to blue at around 101 or 102, around that area.
At first the questions in the beginning were decent, then it got harder, and to the point where I could hear and feel my heart beat stronger with those funny earplugs on. It stayed there for the first 50 questions and it started to level off to the point where I felt like I was finally recognizing that the questions were similar to Kaplan. To me, at first, it was decent, it got harder, leveled off, got hard again, leveled off again, like a constant roller coaster. I had lots of meds, some of them I never heard or seen before. I had 2 select all that apply. I good chunk of priority questions. No fill in the blank med calculations, unless you consider trying to figure out if the IV infusion was correct. Anyway, I have 48 hours or so to see. I give myself a week. Here in California, we dont have quick results. If I dont see anything online by the end of the week. I will call BRN on monday.
Im trying not freak out but after reading posts after taking the NCLEX for almost 3 hours now, it kinda helps, I guess, anyway. Anyone else get questions in that range or experiened the NCLEX rollercoaster?

i also had the same experience. does a question asking for which is normal in an elderly/child a basic question?

Normal reactions and the exam is designed to get harder but will go back a step if you get the hard one wrong.
Good luck
so does this means that the questions asking for what is normal is considered a low-level question?
facts about the alternative formats
This should explain about the alternative formats that are being used
CAT Overview
and this explains on how CAT works.
Hope these help you understand the process
silverdragon, i can not open the site. how come?
I don't have any problems. But if you go to the NCSBN website then click on NCLEX examinations and then click basic information. Once on that page there is a link to Computerized Adaptive Testing Overview and that explains it all
Hope this helps
grazie!
